Blog Culture: not just another cheese joke

I'm a writer. Not that you didn't already know. I assume that if you read this than you must know that I am a writer for The Board. I'm addicted.

Well, I really want to use my blog a bit better so I've decided to post something today. I've been tempted to create a seperate blog where I can fess up to who I really am but sadly I couldn't come up with a decent name for it. Dang!

Yah well...

When I was in kindergarten I wanted to take pizza to school for lunch. The days of 5-dollar Hot 'n' Ready Pizza had not come. Lunchables must not have been invented yet or I'm sure my mom's shopping cart would have been full of surprises she had not anticipated purchasing. I was a sandwich kid like everyone else. Everyday I'd open my bag to tuna, turkey, or baloney. I know it's actually spelled bologna but for some reason my first spelling seems more appropriate right now. I was happy.

One night we had pizza at home. I'm not sure how it happened but I must have said something like, "I wish I could have pizza for lunch at school..." However it happened, I went to bed that night giddy at the thought that my mom had agreed to let me take pizza to school.

It was raining that day. It's funny the details you remember about certain days of your life. I remember that I didn't know how to play checkers. One of the kids in my class asked me to play and taught me how. The exact details and moves through out the game escape me but I do know that I ended up staying at the board while my opponent went crying to the teacher. My family's really competitive at games.

When lunch time came I pulled out my sack lunch and was so excited for the pizza I was about to eat. My classmates were full of anticipation as well. Not everybody's mom gives them pizza for lunch. As I reached into my bag and pulled out my pizza my stomach turned.

The pizza was just cold but my imagination made it covered in green cheese. No way was I going to eat that. I ended up trading it for a tuna salad sandwich.

I'm not really sure what the point of a blog is. It's a new thing to me. The idea of letting out my thoughts so they can run and develop into whatever is sooooo appealing to me though.

Sometimes you just want to type. Whether anyone reads this or not I don't really care. Well...

Of course I'd like people to give me feedback on my thoughts and contribute their own. I'm a socially needy guy.

So I'm excited for this blog. We'll see if I use it well and get out of it what I need or if I continue as I have been.

I like cold pizza now. I'm a college student so cold pizza is food in my stomach.

Am I going to love this blog? Hopefully more than tuna salad.
