Oh to Be 3

Wow it's been a long time since I've posted. I almost take as long as Lavish (I doubt she'll see this so it's fine to comment).

I'm gearing up for school to start, a bit nervous though. It's always tough to fork out $1800 for tuition. I'm not even counting the costs of books. Finances are part of the adult world I really don't enjoy too much right now. I guess that's cause I'm poor. As long as I continue to prevent debt and pay in cash I expect that won't be the case forever.

Ok let's get back to a good ole memory I had the other day:

One time after class I was walking back to the Parking lot behind the Taylor building on campus and I was walking behind a grandma pushing a stroller holding her granddaughter. To the left of her was the street. To the right was her grandson. I'd say he was about 3 yrs old and bundled in his winter coat (this was last winter) and big boots on. He didn't follow on the sidewalk though. He was tromping in his boots blazing a trail through the trees on the dewey grass of that February morning. I thought to myself what it must look like from his perspective.

"HUGE trees and water-soaked grass as I force a path through this wild jungle!"

Then I looked at the grandma and thought back to seeing tired mother's in the grocery line with their kids as they frantically tried to manage them. One mother would be very loving as she kept track of her kids and another might be a little more... forceful. Grandma on the other hand appeared to have a little different perspective than the grocery-store mom's I was thinking of. Grandma was letting the little boy have his own adventure as they walked off to the car. No doubt that Grandma would be right behind ready to pounce should he burst into a sprint.

It was just a moment that made me laugh. Sometimes I wish I were 3 again.

Slightly Board

I read the 100 Hour Board. Admittedly it's only been a few months that I've been a fan. I am a recent convert to it. But I sincerely want to find out who those writers are. Today I even asked them how they would catch one of their fellow board writers. He he he... We'll see how they respond.

The Board has become on of my morning tradition for me. In fact I'm starting to become a creature of habit:

Seriously that is my morning every morning. I can't wait for school to start and then I can mix it up a little.

So I started a rubberband ball a few weeks ago. It;s only about the size of a large marble but it's getting there. For the past 6 months I've been receiving the paper and throwing the rubberbands away. I cancelled my subscription but they just keep sending me the paper. Funny how I started reading it only after I cancelled it. So anyway, I take the paper to work with me each day and grab the rubberband from it and add it to my growing marble. I'm keeping it in my filing cabinet carefully hidden beneath my folders and files.

I tried bouncing it the other day and it just went crazy. It certainly isn't the roundest ball around. I guess the largest rubberband ball was 2 1/2 tons and was measured in 2003. It's circumference was over 15 ft! I'm not thinking I'm going to that diligent with my rubberband ball. Providing I get it to be the size of a softball I'll be thrilled. Though if you're ever in the town of Bethesda, Maryland you can visit that Guinness Record Ball. That is definitely topping my list of highway sideshows I need to visit.

Ok time to go home...
